Our Process

1. Proposal

To begin this exciting journey the most critical step is the evaluation, assessment and goal setting for your V-OP solution.

Our specialist will review your case and send a tailored proposal for a custom device. We may ask for your veterinarian's sign-off or prescription if that is in the pet's best interest.

2. Fiberglass impression

Once payment has been made, we'll ship you an impression kit. Following our impression instructions, make a model of the pet's injured limb. Once done, simply send the kit back to us with the included return shipping label.

3. Device Fabrication

Once OrthoPets receives the fiberglass impression and required paperwork, the V-OP device is manufactured in our state of the art manufacturing center through a digitalizing process of the fiberglass impression.

The impression is turned into a 3D model that is digitally sculpted to create the final device shape. The carved model is vacuum formed with advanced plastics to create the custom made V-OP device. Once the foam liner, straps and pads are added, the device is ready for delivery.

The fabrication time for an orthosis is 5–7 business days, and 7–10 business days for a prosthesis.

4. Fitting

It's time to try on your OrthoPets device! Your package will include the device, fitting documents, wearing schedules and information regarding the care of your device.

Our specialist will ask you to take pictures and videos of the pet standing and walking in the device. We offer free adjustments in the first 60 days post delivery.

Adjustments are a normal part of the process and should be expected. Adjustments can take 1-3 business days to complete. OrthoPets does include 2 adjustments within the first 2 months for orthoses and 2 adjustments within the first 4 months for prostheses.

5. Rehabilitation

For best possible outcomes, we recommend that you see a vet or a rehab professional to ensure the function of the device and to get a comprehensive rehabilitation program to facilitate the best possible outcomes. At the moment, OrthoPets does not provide rehabilitation programs or services.
